Face is perhaps the most important part of the human body with regard to social interactions. Deformities due to any cause whatsoever- injuries, scars, advancing age - creates a negative image in the person's own mindset and that of others? The authors of this book desired to achieve two objectives while writing this book - to demonstrate facial anatomy in a straight forward manner and to create a three dimensional model of the face in the mind of the readers. Both these objectives have been achieved. Colorful dissections of the face after injecting different dyes leave nothing to the imagination. Moreover the text is related to those structures and landmarks, which are visible in the dissection. The figures are not numbered sequentially but this does not hinder the understanding of the text. There are few typographical errors like on page 32, line three where supraorbital crease has been written as supratrochlear crease.
The chapters range from the anatomy of the central forehead to that of lips and chin. At many places, cadaveric anatomy is compared to surface anatomy in the living which enhances the value of the book.
It is a masterly treatise on facial anatomy, which should be useful to medical students desirous to know more than what is written in conventional textbooks to plastic surgeons actually performing reconstructive and aesthetic surgery on patients.
